Climate Change, Militarism and Peace: Making the Links

Tuesday, March 14 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Social Environmental Alliance is hosting a free, public panel on the crucial links between climate change and militarism, and between peace, non-violence and ecological sustainability.

KASIA TOKARSKA, PhD candidate, will provide an overview of the latest science on the climate change and her research on the impacts of burning all untapped fossil-fuel resources.

TAMARA LORINCZ, a senior researcher with the International Peace Bureau and a member of the Vancouver Island Peace and Disarmament Network, will discuss her report “Demilitarization for Deep Decarbonization” about the reciprocal ties between militarism and climate change.

DR. JAMES TULLEY, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, will discuss the need for peace and non-violence to achieve climate justice.

An extended discussion will follow.

Together, this important event will help link environmental and peace- based struggles, showing how militarism and climate change feed off of one another, and how non-violence and sustainability are a shared project.

All are welcome.
