Have you ever been asked the question “Where do you see the world in twenty years?” I have. A few years ago my answer would have been: “I can see a blue sky, green grass and a big bright yellow sun.” If I was asked the same question today, my answer would be this: “Twenty years from now, I see dark grey skies, scorched ground and a dying sun.” Why? Because of pollution! Whenever you litter you contribute to pollution.

Have you ever heard of The Great Pacific Garbage Patch? That is where all the litter goes. That’s not all. Factories pollute too. Greenhouse gases are released into the air and they break down the ozone layer. Without the ozone layer, the earth would be blackened by the sun. Pollution is horrible. How can we stop this so our children and our children’s’ children have a beautiful earth? We need to stop polluting! It’s not hard! If everyone stopped to pick up one piece of garbage, the world would be cleaner. As a teenager, one way we can encourage each other not to pollute is by using social media when we observe others trying to save the planet. When walking with a group of friends, we could be a good role model and persuade our friends not to litter. We also can take responsibility for own litter instead of hoping that someone else will pick it up for us. Also, all of us should recycle. I don’t know about you, but I intend to be the solution not the pollution.
